Anxiety Therapy in South London and Online

Anxiety can show up in many different ways. You might feel constantly on edge, find it difficult to relax, overthink situations, struggle with sleep, or experience a sense of unease that is hard to explain.

Sometimes anxiety is more physical—tightness in the chest, a racing heart, shallow breathing, or a feeling of being “wired but tired.” At other times, it can feel like persistent worry, self-doubt, or a sense that something might go wrong.

I offer counselling and psychotherapy for anxiety in South London and online, supporting you to understand your experience and begin to feel more grounded and at ease.

How anxiety can develop

Anxiety is often not only about present-day stress. It can also be shaped by earlier experiences, including:

  • growing up in environments that felt unpredictable or emotionally unsafe

  • experiences of loss, trauma, or attachment disruption

  • learning to stay alert to others’ needs or moods

  • developing a strong inner critic or sense of responsibility for others

Over time, the nervous system can learn to remain in a heightened state of alertness, even when there is no immediate danger.

How I work with anxiety

I am an integrative psychotherapist, working relationally, psychodynamically and somatically.

In practice, this means we might explore anxiety not only through talking, but also through noticing patterns, emotions, and how anxiety is experienced in the body.

In our work together, we may focus on:

  • understanding the patterns that maintain anxiety

  • exploring the roots of anxious feelings and responses

  • noticing how anxiety shows up in relationships and daily life

  • developing greater awareness of bodily sensations and emotional states

  • building capacity to stay with and regulate difficult feelings

Rather than trying to eliminate anxiety quickly, the aim is to develop a deeper understanding of it—so it becomes more manageable, less overwhelming, and less central in your life.

What therapy for anxiety may help with

Therapy may be helpful if you experience:

  • persistent worry or overthinking

  • panic or physical symptoms of anxiety

  • difficulty relaxing or switching off

  • fear of making mistakes or “getting things wrong”

  • social anxiety or fear of judgement

  • feeling overwhelmed by everyday demands

  • a general sense of unease or restlessness

You may also notice that anxiety affects your sense of self-worth, your relationships, your work, or your ability to rest and recover.

What therapy with me is like

I aim to offer a calm, thoughtful and attuned space where we can explore your experience at a pace that feels manageable.

Rather than focusing on fixing or changing things quickly, we would work together to understand what your anxiety might be communicating and how it has developed over time.

Many people find that, over time, this can support:

  • greater self-understanding

  • increased emotional regulation

  • a more compassionate inner relationship

  • a reduced sense of being overwhelmed by anxiety
