Working Together
Beginning therapy can feel like a significant step. You may be unsure what to expect, or whether it will feel right for you. We can take time to think together about what has brought you here, and what you might be hoping for from therapy.
Our first session offers a space to begin exploring this, and for you to get a sense of how it feels to work together. There is no obligation to continue, and you are welcome to take time afterwards to reflect on whether it feels like the right fit for you.
If we decide to continue, sessions take place weekly at the same time each week. This regularity can help to create a sense of consistency and containment, allowing the work to deepen over time.
Sessions last 50 minutes and can take place in person in South London, or online across the UK.
The therapeutic relationship
At the heart of therapy is the relationship between us. I aim to offer a space where you feel able to speak openly, at your own pace, without judgement.
At times, I may gently offer reflections, questions, or observations, particularly where patterns begin to emerge. We may also pay attention to what arises between us in the room, as this can offer insight into how you experience relationships more broadly.
Endings and pace
Therapy can be short-term or longer-term, depending on your needs. Some people come with a particular focus, while others may wish to explore more open-endedly.
We can review the work together as we go, and if you decide to end therapy, we would usually take time to think about this process together. Endings can be an important part of the work, offering space to reflect on what has changed and what you are taking with you.
